why do I keep getting a "runtime error" message and how do I fix it?

I’m constantly getting the "runtime error" message and I wanted to know how to permanently fix the problem. I just want to generally know how to get rid of this problem, whether the "runtime error" is from using the internet, to using a program, or playing an online game, I just really want to fix this. I’m sure part of the problem is that I could prevent this kind of thing more frequently if I had some kind of anti virus or malawar/spyware program but I don’t, although I do have Windows Vista which means I have "Windows Defender". If "Windows Defender" is not good enough then I will try to find a antivirus program, but I would just need a free antivirus/antispyware program because I can’t afford the payment every month. Either way at this point I need something that will get of rid of the problem while an antivirus program will only PREVENT future cases such as this. I’ve also read that you can download a program called "Registry Easy" which is supposed to clean up your computer’s registry, but that didn’t help because again it only cleans a small portion of corrupt files, you need to register in order for it to fix everything which I can’t afford. So back to the main point, if anybody could help with this problem I would greatly appreciate it, if anybody could also explain their responses in detail that would also be good considering I’m not much of a computer savvy guy.

I can't "save as" any file?

I’m using Win 7. Everything was normal till yesterday. I realize I can’t "save as" any files. For an example, after using MS Word, I chose "save as", renamed the file and pressed "save" button. But an error message appeared saying that "There are no more files". The same problem occurred with every programs (MS Excel, Paint, etc.) I can create new folder, I can save existing files, but I cannot "save as" to make a new file.

The problem happened with my internet browser (Firefox) also. When I clicked to download a file from the internet, Firefox asked me to choose the name for the file and destination to save the file. When I pressed "save" button, an error message appeared saying that "There are no more files". Sometimes it said :"The file name is not valid"

I have used some softwares like "Registry Easy" but it couldn’t help.

This problem seems like disasters. Please help me to fix this problem. I will be much obliged.

will buying an antivirus software such as Norton Antivirus remove spyware, adware and pop ups from my computer

My computer seems to be infected with spyware. The bar at the bottom sometimes disappear and reappear. I have done a saf scan with Microsoft but at the end the problem remains. Right after the problem appeared, a program offeing to fix it pops up, it’s called WinIFixer and recommends me to get it. I don’t know what to do I have been thinking of going and purchasing a antivirus software from the store, but will that help remove the problem?

Recommendation on a good anti-spyware/registry cleaner?

I formerly had PC Tools’ Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic, but the license has expired on those two and they no longer offer a discount price for getting both programs.

Can you steer me towards something equally good that I should look into getting? I’m looking for protection from spyware, malware, etc.

I’m not locked into getting a Registry cleaner, but would like to.

BTW, I use AVG’s updated free version, so I feel I’m covered on the anti-virus front.

My system performance graph records an uneven change in the usage of processor continuously.. Plz help me.?

My processor usage changes rapidly and continuously from 0 to 80%, even when the system is idle.. I tried all the possible means.. msconfig, disk cleanup, registry cleanup, spyware scanning… When once it happened i formatted my laptop.. Is there no other solution.. as u know formatting is a big head ache..

Best way to remove spyware without erasing contents of hard drive?

My computer was recently infected with spyware. It’s quite obvious, as the pop ups are demanding, and obnoxious, and all demanding that I download their anti-spyware program. I’m showing all the signs, and I’d like to get rid of it.

I receive so many recommendations on such a regular basis, but none of them have ever seemed to work in the past. What I’m looking for is something that can be obtained for free, whether it’s a free product, or available as a torrent download. What’s the best software?

I bought Oblivion GOTY for pc. It will not install at all! Securom says emulation tools have altered my pc.?

The only emulation tools that could be the problem are daemon tools lite which I cant figure out how to disable,deleting it doesn’t work. Could it be the limewire app we use for finding music? Short of wiping the hard drive which we don’t want to do, my Mom and I are running out of ideas. We did send a analysis to securom but haven’t heard back yet.
